What we do

As part of an integrated, team-based health model, Tepeyac provides preventative oral health and treatment services with our dental team. In 2021, we had 1,428 dental visits including emergency dental care, routine exams, preventive care, and dental cleaning. In our new clinic space, we anticipate 5,000 visits in our first year and 7,500 by 2028. We will also be able to offer a wider array of services, thereby reducing the number of referrals and increasing positive outcomes with better continuity of care.

The issues of health, education, and economic status are interdependent. If children are healthy, they are more likely to do well in school. Education improves income potential, and health outcomes improve as income rises. Tepeyac’s new facility adds and expands services that address all of the Health Barriers to Learning, such as asthma, unaddressed dental issues, uncorrected vision and hearing problems, persistent hunger, behavioral health problems, and effects of lead exposure. It also gives the parents of Tepeyac’s growing pediatric population the ability to schedule same-day child dental and well-child visits or their own preventative care visits.

The Oral Health Suite in our new facility includes six operatories, including four in an open bay, one private operatory for general and pediatric dentistry and one private operatory for general and bariatric dentistry, a full dental lab, teaching sink for oral health education, and a panoramic dental x-ray.
