New PBS Documentary Highlights Tepeyac’s Mission and Stories of Healing
How a Routine Visit Became a Lifesaving Moment
When Martha brought her daughter to Tepeyac, she thought she was seeking help for ongoing pain. What she didn’t expect was that the visit would save her daughter’s life.
During the appointment, a Tepeyac provider recognized signs that something was seriously wrong and urged her to seek emergency care immediately. At the hospital, doctors discovered a cancerous tumor.
The diagnosis changed everything.
Her daughter faced surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. She also received the devastating news that the treatment would take away her ability to have children in the future. In an instant, the dreams she held for her life were forever altered.
No family should have to navigate a journey like that alone.
Throughout every step of treatment, Tepeyac remained by their side. Medical providers helped coordinate care and ensure nothing fell through the cracks. Behavioral health specialists provided support through fear, grief, depression, and uncertainty. When the road ahead felt overwhelming, Martha and her daughter had a trusted team walking beside them.
Today, her daughter is cancer-free.
Their story is a powerful reminder of why Tepeyac exists: to provide compassionate, high-quality care that supports the whole person and meets families where they are, especially in their most difficult moments.
